Three Things to Look When Buying Upholstered Furniture

1. Construction—There are several kinds of spring and joint systems that indicate quality but the best way to judge is by sitting on it. It should feel firm and not cave or cause you to sink.

2. Frame—Look for a hardwood frame such as oak for maximum durability. Softer woods and plywood indicate low quality and will not last as long.

3. Fabric—Upholstery fabric should be durable and made to last–consider fabrics with stain-resistant coating to keep it looking its best for the long haul.
